The research databases below have been purchased by our library for the exclusive use of the Highlander Way Community and contain research-quality information not available for free on the web.  In order to access these great sources from home, get a password list from the library, use the PASSWORD VAULT "keyword" to access all the passwords,  or-- if you don't know the vault keyword--contact Mr. Hastings and he'll help you out.

 

Click the logo on the left to enter SIRS Discoverer.  This is an excellent source for gathering reliable information on most any topic, all selected from top reference sources, magazines, newspapers, government documents, picture and map libraries and more.  Only information useful to kids is chosen for this database, and all articles are sorted by reading level, features that make it the top choice for beginning researchers.

Grolier Online contains the general encyclopedias--Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, The New Book of Knowledge, and Encyclopedia Americana, as well as a geographical encyclopedia-- Lands and Peoples. 

Student Resource Center is the INFOTRAC Database we use most. It provides access to articles from trusted reference sources like subject encyclopedias, plus articles from thousands of newspapers and magazines. researching from home? Use your INFOTRAC password to get in.

Health Reference Center Academic is INFOTRAC's premier source for reliable information about medicine and human health. Use it to access articles and entries from medical encyclopedias, dictionaries, and journals. Use your INFOTRAC password to access from home.

Health and Wellness Resource Center

Health and Wellness Resource Center is a good source for articles from popular sources regarding topics like fitness, diet, nutrition and alternative medicine.

 INFOTRAC is actually a whole FAMILY of databases! There's two health and medicine libraries, a genealogy database, legal library, full text coverage of over 100 newspapers, four periodical databases--each designed for a different grade level-- and lots more. 

E-Library Elementary lets you search by subject from a variety of different sources: reference books, magazines, newspapers, map and image collections, even transcripts from TV and radio news programs. You can select and deselect the type of media you're looking for. 


Career Cruising is a jobs database that help you discover your vocational aptitudes, explore specific jobs, and find out where you can get the education and training you'll need to find work in your chosen field.
